“HOW HIGH’S THE CREEK MOMMA?” NOT S’BAD
« on: March 11, 2025, 12:49:29 PM »
Hi everyone,

We’re not so high and dry, but inside we are dry. The local river system didn’t inundate us where we are, though there was a moment when the whole area was on tender hooks.  Trees have been uprooted around the local neighborhood, some just missing houses worth more than a million and a half on today’s market. (They’re not worth that, but….location, location, location. Ha! Bring your galoshes, wellies to you English.) Elsewhere, just a little west of us it’s done some really awful damage, especially up on the Goldie (Gold Coast) of Queensland.

The actual cyclone was NOT a “fizzer” as some ill informed people were touting. I’ve seen footage on the tele taken by very frightened people in expensive high rise units watching the damage as it occurred. The wind was furiously whipping everything in its path and the noise and deluge of water was very unnerving. Father reminded me that Yeshua is in the boat and I need not fear because He isn’t asleep. I was also reminded that this is the Redeemer who leaps from wave top to wave top and that Peter, for a few seconds, did the same. I’m not Peter, but I do know that YeHoVaH has not given us a “spirit of fear”. As hard as it is at times like this, we must shift our consciousness to faith in our Father and Yeshua for all things, even if the ship goes down.

The Gold Coast on Queensland’s southern end at the border of New South Wales has been smashed, in some places inundated with water, wonderful, old trees uprooted, some landing on homes. Brisbane has been flooded in areas and both areas have electricity supply issues and mobile phone connectivity issues as well. Our mobile went down for a day only, but in case of emergencies we have a landline that still works, which is great considering we could have lost power like we did 3 years ago, then the new fandangle phones won’t work at all as they rely on the wifi unit to work.

Remember the days of the landline plugged into wall, and someone might ring you when you’re out somewhere and you wouldn’t even know about it. Now, with its answering machine built in we check it every time we come back home - and that’s if you need to because you’ve got your mobile phone with you the whole time. Some can’t cope with their anxiety if they left home without it. I just may be one of those people 😬. Okay, so I’m a work in progress just like you 😊.

The entire area of the Northern Rivers of northern New South Wales is not through this wet season yet. More rains and thunderstorms are predicted. We had a maintenance dude here a little while ago to replace some guttering down pipes and he said: “They’re predicting thunderstorms later in the week, but I don’t know if we can believe them. Since Covid, everyone’s been trained to be on high alert.” And he finished with the usual rolling of eyes that has become so commonplace over the last five years.

Anyway, we are so far blessed by YeHoVaH Father and a band of His angels. Now for the inevitable humidity that rises and brings with it the usual mould that grows on everything. Truly, this area has not fully dried out from the horror storm of 2022, and each time the rain comes again, the mould doesn’t get a chance to dry off and go. I should say at this stage that my daughter and I both have a high allergy to mould 😝.

Just received another downpour of rain. Happy day! 😏

Keeping you posted, staying vigilant and…back to work! More postings later today.
