PASSOVER DATES FOR 2022
« on: March 14, 2022, 03:38:29 PM »
To All:

After a thorough search for barley in the vicinity of Jerusalem it was discovered that crops were not ripened therefore not AVIV, so a 13th month is required to allow the barley to mature.  Devorah Gordon (Karaite) has written:

"Aviv Barley is a stage of the grain’s development, where the kernels have finished developing and most of its moisture is gone. At this stage the barley can be harvested, parched, and eaten. To determine whether the barley is Aviv, we squeeze the kernels to test how much moisture is remaining. If when we squeeze the kernel, the seed shoots out, this it is what we call the “worm stage” and is indicative of the seed not being fully developed. However, if we squeeze the kernel and the seed doesn’t shoot out, this is Aviv, as the seed is not coming out, because almost all of its moisture is gone, and when the grain is parched at this stage, we are left with nice firm kernels."

We are in agreement with her assessment.

Therefore, Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread will be in April.

We will set the April dates in the near future for an appropriate compliance.
